Position Description:
The Community Liaison is responsible for deeply engaging with assigned communities, developing trusting relationships with residents, understanding the community’s unique strengths and challenges, advocating for resources, and fostering partnerships to support child and family well-being. The Community Liaison works to empower communities to care for themselves more holistically, strengthening natural networks of support and helping to fill gaps in the child welfare ecosystem. This position serves as the bridge between the needs of the community and the resources available to meet them.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with individuals, families, and local leaders within assigned communities.
  • Regularly attend community events, meetings, and gatherings to maintain visibility and foster collaboration.
  • Conduct outreach and listening sessions to identify evolving community strengths, needs, and priorities.
  • Identify existing community supports and services related to child and family well-being.
  • Advocate for additional services or resources where gaps exist, in collaboration with community members and partner organizations.
  • Act as a liaison between the community and service providers, ensuring the community’s voice is heard in resource planning.
  • Support the development of informal and formal community networks and partnerships.
  • Facilitate connections between residents, organizations, and systems to strengthen natural support systems.
  • Empower community members to lead initiatives that improve quality of life and family outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in community engagement, social services, grassroots organizing, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  •  Knowledge of child welfare issues, family services, and community resource landscapes preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and creatively in diverse community settings.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and culturally responsive engagement.
Work Conditions:
  • Environment: Hybrid
  • Range of Schedule:  Mon – Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Travel: Frequent - Uses own vehicle on agency business but does not transport clients.  (Must have a valid Texas driver license and current auto insurance)
