Position Description:
The Director of Professional Development provides leadership for the Texans Together (TTG) Professional Development Division, ensuring high-quality training for new and current employees, foster/adopt parents, and the community. This role oversees training initiatives aligned with TTG’s mission and contractual requirements, including coordinating training and skill-building components of strategic implementation efforts such as Texas Child Centered Care (T3C). The Director collaborates with program teams, the evaluation team, state agency and CBC Lead Agency partners, and local organizations to achieve training goals and outcomes.  This position manages daily professional development operations, including setting strategic goals, developing policies and procedures, establishing schedules and standards, evaluating outcomes, and preparing and monitoring the division budget. The role operates under general supervision with significant independent judgment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Lead the Professional Development Department, providing strategic direction and oversight. Hire, manage, and develop training and curriculum development staff to ensure effective delivery of training programs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including new and current employees, foster/adopt parents, and community members, to identify training needs and develop appropriate programs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Professional Development Department by regularly reviewing and updating training content and methodologies based on feedback and emerging best practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in social work, education, business, marketing, training, or human services fields required.
  • Education may be substituted with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience related to job function.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in child welfare or training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified TBRI Practitioner or other trauma informed care certification.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in child welfare or training.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a leadership role of a training division.
  • Leadership role in training division of a Texas child welfare agency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and management.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development (instructor led and online delivery).
  • Knowledge of sound pedagogical practice and evaluating learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of adult learning styles and public speaking techniques.
  • Expertise in child trauma, abuse, neglect, the foster care system, and populations served by TTG.
  • Proficient in business and marketing principles, and skilled in the creative use of PowerPoint and technology for presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities, researching regulatory updates, and being able to translate that information into effective curriculum and delivery.
  • Effective supervisory abilities, capable of inspiring and motivating a diverse training team, and overseeing new training projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to deliver presentations and maintain professional licenses, with mobility for physical training sessions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative efforts with multiple partners both within, and outside, of your direct oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage budgets in alignment with available resources and in achievement of programmatic goals.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives.
  • Ability to devise solutions to administrative problems.
  • Ability to evaluate processes, align them policy and intended outcomes, and determine their effectiveness.
Work Conditions:
  • Environment: Office
  • Range of Schedule:  Mon – Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Travel: Occasional (Must have reliable personal transportation, valid Texas Driver License and current Auto Insurance.
