Available Shifts:         A Shift, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
                                     B Shift, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
                                     C Shift, 11:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Reports to:                 Residential Case Manager

Location:                    LaPorte, TX

Position Description:

The House Manager is responsible for the day-to-day planning and operation of the milieu as well as the safety and well-being of the children and youth assigned to their care.  The House Manager is responsible for ensuring interventions and activities are designed to promote growth and stability through their involvement in program design and implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the day-to-day implementation and coordination of the Unit program, ensuring a therapeutic milieu; ensures consistency in programming; provides leadership in determining logical and rational interventions as needed to ensure the safety of children and youth in care.
  2. Responsible for scheduling of resident appointments as needed and the coordination of transportation for those appointments.
  3. Responsible for ensuring proper dispensation of resident medications, ordering medications, auditing medical record keeping duties for assigned shifts.
  4. Responsible for the planning of groups and activities and providing direction and assistance to staff in the implementation of those groups and activities.
  5. Keeps informed of the needs of children and youth in care to be able to provide consistency in programming; participates in exchange of information at each shift change.
  6. Ensures the completion of all assigned written paperwork, including daily progress notes, shift logs, Incident Reports, Restraint forms, and other communications in a timely manner, ensuring accurate, grammatically correct, and legible communication; ensures all documentation is in compliance with Policy and Standards.
  7. Responsible for the direct supervision of Residential Care Specialists and the evaluation of their job performance as well as on-the-job training of Residential Care Specialists.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience working with children and/or youth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in human or social service-related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a therapeutic residential setting with children and adolescents required.
  • One (1) year of supervisory responsibilities required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of residential service’s safety practices and protocols for children and adolescents.
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness in dealing with new problems and changing circumstances.
  • Proficient with basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and sound ethical practices.
  • Ability to implement therapeutic treatment plans consistently.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members and other staff.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Work Conditions:

  • May be required to apply safety intervention strategies when handling crisis
  • Must be able to life up to 25 pounds
  • Travel: Drive agency vehicle, Transport clients (Valid Texas Driver required)
  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluids
