Position Description:
The Staff Accountant II will perform professional accounting work for accounts receivable including performing deposits, cash and check collections, managing incoming and outgoing payments from contractual obligations and donors, and related duties.  

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Performing duties of the Accounts Receivable Team of the Accounting Department, including receivables and billing, collections, and ledger entries as necessary. 
  2. Preparing invoices as necessary, monthly journal entries and reports from the billing system for the month end closing.
  3. Reconciling receivable balances between the billing and accounting systems and correcting any erroneous payments between parties.
  4. Ensuring accurate and timely payments to foster parents or subcontractors.
  5. Maintaining positive customer relationships.
  6. Collecting deposits daily, using remote capture or other methods.
  7. Preparing deposit entries for month-end and year-end closing activities.
  8. Performing monthly account reconciliations for receivables and aging reports.
  9. Preparing and compiling monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports as needed.
  10. Assisting in year-end audits, single audit, and fund audits.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Three (3) years accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years Not-for-profit accounting experience.
  • Experience with processing billing for foster care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, Word, and Power Point skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Accounting practices.
  • Mathematical aptitude and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints to meet deadlines.
Work Conditions:
  • Environment: Hybrid – Office
  • Range of Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Travel: None
