Mental Health Counselor (Part-time)
Position: Mental Health Counselor
Classification: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Location: Houston, TX
Benefits: Not eligible for benefits, however, may participate in agency retirement plan
Position Description:
The Mental Health Counselor will provide part-time (approx. 4 hours per week) support services to fathers/co-parents in the DePelchin All Dads Succeed Program (DADS). The DePelchin DADS is a curriculum-based program focused on providing support to fathers to address three core areas: Promoting or Sustaining Healthy Marriage, Responsible Parenting, and Economic Stability. This position requires an individual who can relate well to fathers and families in crisis as well as one who is comfortable with advocacy, mediation, and teamwork.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's in Social Work or related Human Services field.
- Fluent in Spanish. English required.
- Must have completed the Support Father Involvement (SFI) curricula training or be able to attain such certification within the first year of employment. Employment is contingent on the acquisition of minimal certification/licensure.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas Driver's License, and current auto insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year related experience.
- Experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare.
- LMSW, LPC-Associate or LMFT-Associate; or
- Be in the process of applying for an LPC-Associate or LMFT-Associate; or
- Must have "passed" the Texas State Board Exam to obtain LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate status.
Work Conditions:
- Environment: Home-based office, Varied indoor/outdoor and Community settings
- Range of Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (approx. (4) hours per week), Occasional nights or weekends
- Travel: Frequent within Houston and the surrounding area
